TYPES OF SCHOOLS IN GUYANA
Guyanese primary and secondary schools are divided into two categories:
Public schools: run by the government and are free of cost; and
Private schools: independently operated, charge a tuition, and may follow a specific religious or educational philosophy.
HOW DO private and international schools DIFFER?
Private schools
Private schools follow the same curriculum as public schools and prepare students for credentials that are recognized locally and throughout the Caribbean. Smaller class sizes, increased attention and access to more activities.
International schools in Guyana
International schools are also private schools. They offer students an education tailored to the children of international families who may spend their educational years across different countries. Space is often limited and preference may be given to students based on nationality. Smaller class sizes and expanded activities are usually provided.
